the first thing i break in lab, of course it's not a pipette tip

So, I was trying to get this data off of a disk onto the REALLY ancient mac (that has a b&w monitor and excel 4.0). discovered i needed to reformat the data. fine. tried to get the disk out of the computer. yup, it was stuck. had to resort to the ole paper clip in the little hole trick. also discovered that only 1 of the other computers in the lab actually has a disk drive. reformat, put the disk back in. nope, the computer won't recognize it. this would not be a problem, except that the simulation program i am using (written in FORTRAN!) only runs on the equally ancient computer that is unconnected to the outside world, except for its very sick disk drive. Worse disaster than Y2K was supposed to be? Stay tuned...
