almodovar rulz!

brandon and i finished watching all about my mother this morning (we had to split it in two, since i fell asleep at 11pm). between that and the new audrey tautou flick, i have decided that europeans are somehow better at making engaging films. better cinematography, better panning shots, dramas that don't become roaming epics. maybe it's just that i have a soft spot for bright colors and great facial expressions, but my hour and a half commitment didn't feel wasted, not that you can compare these to american pie. of course, the french equivalent of american pie probably wouldn't make it to us theatres (potential XX rating alert), so the stuff i see from overseas already has more going for it than the average american romantic comedy/drama.
