teaching blues

only three kids (briefly) showed up for section tonight. they asked questions about the test they just got back and then, whoosh, it was just me and the blackboard for the next 45 minutes.

i think it is totally lame that the university considers TAing a "teaching experience" in the sciences. my duties basically include writing homework questions (which i would say is good experience) and grading batches and batches of papers. i'm sorry, but a monkey could grade multiple choice tests, maintain spreadsheets, ect. grading is not teaching. it is work and i should be paid to do it.

if they want to take the "part of your fellowship here is being paid by your TAing two semesters" route, fine, call it what it is, cause it sure ain't "teacher training".
