best video, where you have to spend at least an hour before picking a tape

so, i decided to treat myself to a video after the 24 hour cram fest for my final. enlisting the help of fellow grad student amanda (not to be confused with my roomate amanda, who never drives me anywhere. well, except the grocery store), we headed to best video in hamden. 10,000 dvd titles, 40,000 tapes, a film buff's paradise. i really wanted to get a silly romantic comedy or something, but i always feel like i should be renting something important, with as many of those "recommended by employee x" stickers as possible. unfortunately, couldn't find any romantic comedies that fit the critically acclaimed bill. finally settled for kirsten dunst in crazy/beautiful which was on the 2nd chance hits shelf, but had no stickers. couldn't make eye contact with the clerk as she rang up my rental. feared a torrent of laughter as i left the store. decided to rent something obscure and foreign the next time i go.
