i luv tv (sometimes)
went to work out at the gym to celebrate my one day vacation from lab (go federal holidays). they have closed caption cnn and all of the trashy magazines you could ever want! anyway, i saw a quick soundbite w/ amy goodman and some guy. she said the war in iraq is all about oil. he said that's absurd, saddam is a dictator. she said, yes he's a dictator, but so is Chong-il Kim and we are working out a diplomatic solution with north korea. he said, yes, but he has nuclear weapons. man, i would have nailed him for that one, but they had to wrap it up. maybe i should develop some weapons of mass destruction. at least i wouldn't have to worry about them bombing my house while negotiations are on. (for the record amy goodman wasn't particularly convincing, although it was hard to tell with the sound off. although, the other guy wouldn't respond to anything she said, he just called it "absurd". i wouldn't have really called it a discussion, more like a battle to get in a maximum amount of words in relation to your opponent, with no time to actually develop any real ideas. this is why we need longer news shows with real interviews. just as things get interesting, it's time to wrap up.)
