1) fictional critiques of modern pop culture which used to be postmodern, followed by post-post modern and are now struggling to be post-ironic.

2) nonfiction about liberal/radical politics and the media

3) imagistic fiction like calvino, cather, and marquez

4) pop science covering topics like consciousness and complexity
