heather, one of the grad students in my lab, also likes dawson's creek, so i invited myself over to her house for the season premiere on wednesday. sometimes not having a tv can inspire social interaction. plus, watching "the creek on the frog" (as my dad likes to say) is more fun with other people.
apparently, there is this major unionizing effort here on campus among the grad students, which, although having been around for over a decade, has picked up in recent years. A lot of people are vehemently opposed to it b/c they say that the GESO people use harassing tactics, are very unprofessional, and haven't really asked for anything that hasn't already been addressed by the GSA (graduate student assembly). it was described by some kids @ lunch as "a cult", whose members, at a Q&A session about unionization last year, took the opportunity to gang up and "offer testimonials" about the benefits of GESO. ouch!
