vote on a montana town's science curriculum falls to the discovery institute
recent creationist activity supporting the usual changes to the science curriculum in montana was met with resistance from local residents. apparently about 50 of the high school seniors walked out in protest of the proposed changes. and this was in a school with a graduating class of 39! unfortunately, the board voted 3-2 to preliminarily approve the changes.
i am all about developing the critical thinking skills of young americans, but legislating some unprovable paradigm into existence, so you can then force schools to use the textbooks that you approve of and nothing else, is so contrary to the scientific method.
to me, all of this fancy-dancy talk about design is still rooted in the whole "humans are special (i.e. not monkeys)" debate that has been raging for millennia. get over yourselves.
